OECD organises a Forum on Procurement for Innovation

Within its Procurement Week, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development will hold a Forum on Procurement for Innovation to make visible the government’s market power to drive innovation and influence the private market, and to demonstrate that public procurement can play a key role in encouraging innovation and increasing productivity.

The Forum will take place at the OECD headquarters in Paris, next 5 October. The first session will focus on boosting innovation through public procurement. Questions such as how to overcome the difficulties that come with developing a long-term vision to achieve progress or how public procurement of innovation can impact inclusive growth will be addressed. During the second session, different countries will share their experience in implementing action plans for using public procurement strategically as a mean to improve the efficiency and quality of the public sector. Then, there will be two parallel session on how to combine the policy objectives of innovation and sustainable growth, and the development of SMEs.

The OECD will take the opportunity to present the results of its Survey on Strategic Innovation Procurement, which was launched in 2015, and will introduce its new Framework on Strategic Use of Procurement for Innovation, based on the survey results.
